Marco Bailey

Starting out in the late 80s, Marco Bailey is a self-taught DJ and producer who has become one of the biggest names in the electronic scene to date. Having been completely seduced by the rhythmic power of dance music at a young age, Marco soon decided to swap the dance floor for the decks and has since committed his life to music.

Three decades on, and he is now widely recognised as an artist who constantly pushes techno to the next level by producing his very own tracks, managing his personal label MB Elektronics (established in 2001), and of course, by travelling the world to make people move with his flawless technique and impeccable track selection. Providing powerful beats and deep atmospherics, Marco is guaranteed to deliver a mesmerizing set wherever he is in the world, frequenting some of the finest establishments the dance scene has to offer.

Throughout his illustrious career Marco has released high-quality records on esteemed labels such as Bonzai Records in the 90’s and later on Primate, Prime’vill, Intec, Arts and Kombination Research to name a few. Always staying true to his instincts and beliefs when producing, he is now an innovator completely and permanently devoted to his craft, currently heading MATERIA, a label and event concept established in 2015 which has turned into a focal point for techno lovers in cities such as London, Pars, Bueno Aires and Madrid. The label has already catalogued twenty releases from top-class artists such as all time legend Emmanuel Top, KAS:ST, French talent KMYLE, London-based Arnaud le Texier and Polish great DEAS, to name a few, and there is much more to come.

Look out over the coming months for his new projects, including new growth steps for MATERIA as well as a long awaited MB Elektronics comeback with a fresh EP from Aphrohead (Felix Da Housecat’s alias), and new tracks from the man himself that will be released very soon.

1. Laurent Garnier – From the Crypt to the Astro Floor

“It’s difficult to choose between Acid Eiffel or this one, but Acid Eiffel has been elected many times by lots of artists including myself, so I kept to this one. When I heard Laurent playing it for the first time in the morning when the sun came up on that small magic floor at Time Warp, I remember I was coming from a gig in Italy straight to Time Warp very tired, asking myself why I still went there when I was not booked and could have easily been in bed. But this track was like an angel that came down to the floor. Laurent always chooses the perfect moment to drop this track. I will never forget that moment and what this track brought to me. It made me smile again and gave my full energy back! The fat bass line driving forward and then the synths and pads in this tune that take you away to an outstanding voyage. It’s a track you have to play till the very end! Awesome!

2. Underground Resistance – The Final Frontier

“UR and Mike Banks’ magic label, just like Night of the Jaguar from Rolando, this one is another timeless tune for me. It’s just magic electro with every sound in its place!

[Released: 01.01.92 on Underground Resistance]

3. Autechre – VLetrmx

“Autechre are not only my favourite duo as a live act on stage, but also their releases since the beginning of the 90’s when I started to buy their music. What I’m going to say now may sound a bit ironic, but when I die, I want this track to play at my funeral. It’s magic. It makes me cry, smile and think about life’s, past, present and future.

[Released: 27.02.97 on Warp]

4. Oscar Mulero – Like A Wolf

“I think I have been playing this track now for five or six years non-stop, each time a spirit catcher. Cristian and Oscar are both the finest in Spain no doubt. Slightly different ways, but both experts in music and technique. Legends!

[Released: 11.03.11 on PoleGroup]

5. Emmanuel Top – Festival Suicide

“One of the best tracks released so far on my label by the KING. This man has made countless tracks from the early 90’s non-stop. Like a machine. Floor filler machine tracks. Thanks, Emmanuel for this killer!”

[Released: 19.02.18 on MATERIA]
