Krankbrother duo Danny and Kieran Clancy have spent the last decade making a name for themselves up and down the UK. Not only do they DJ, but the pair host some of most forward-thinking and prominent parties in London regularly showcasing the hottest international artists around. Since its inception in 2009, the duo have become synonymous in the local area throwing parties in unique spaces such as abandoned buildings, public spaces and one-off outdoor locations — carefully curating each line-up as they come. Most notably, in more recent times the brothers have invited heavyweight names such as Helena Hauff, Four Tet, Todd Terje, Ben UFO and Andrew Weatherall to the dancefloor, demonstrated by their most prominent festival to date — RE-TEXTURED — landing this weekend.
Best described as a multi-venue, multi-sensory festival located in London, RE-TEXTURED combines a range of experimental electronic music, modernist and industrial architecture and innovative lighting installations for modern day electronic extravaganza. Taking place over the course of three days at a string of venues including Printworks and Fold, the festival invites a star-studded line-up of grade-A artists such as Héctor Oaks, LSDXOXO, Rebekah, Rødhäd, VTSS, MFO, Skee Mask plus many more. Tickets are available to purchase here. We caught up with the two brothers ahead of the festival to get their favourite tracks from some of the key artists playing this weekend.
Baby T – I Wish
“Electro, breaks, jungle, miami bass, techno. Baby T’s sets are extremely eclectic but all mixed with absolute precision at breakneck speed. Her sound is unique, high octane and always riotous. The darkness of the Inkwells at Printworks will be the perfect place to experience it.“
Caterina Barbieri – Fantas Morbida
“Caterina’s new show Light Years is a collaborative concept alongside artists Bendik Giske, Nkisi, and a vocal ensemble led by Evelyn Saylor. The show also features bespoke visual design by Marcel Weber (MFO). By celebrating sound as an agent of change, the platform’s mission is to make deep listening effortless and explore the transformative, mind-altering potential of music, as well as its socially empowering effects. This show in Queen Elizabeth Hall will be very special.“
Helena Hauff – Split Scission
“Helena headlines the rarely used live room for our Printworks show. She needs no introduction. Killer selector and insane skills behind the decks. She’s been one of our favourite djs for a long time. Expect the roof to come off when she takes stage. For this performance we have also commissioned visuals by the ever brilliant Theresa Baumgartner.“
Hector Oaks – All This Was Fire
“Hector plays techno like no one else right now. Fast, furious, funky; his mastery over two 1210s and a mixer feels like a throwback. No tricks, pedals, effects, loops. Just impeccable records and selection delivered with raw power.“
VTSS – For Your Safety
“VTSS occupies a unique space. Whether its techno, EBM, IDM or experimental she glides through sounds and BPMs effortlessly. She will be playing the live room in Printworks with specially commissioned visuals by the wonderful Pedro Maia.“
