Dekmantel announce Parrish Smith’s debut album on the imprint

Dekmantel Records announces Parrish Smith’s debut album on the imprint entitled Light Cruel & Vain.

A globally renowned DJ, Parrish Smith has become synonymous for his high-velocity sets and distinct sounds — releasing on labels such as Dekmantel UFO Series and L.I.E.S. For his latest release Light Cruel & Vain LP on Dekmantel Records, the record is the first fruit of a painstaking process, recorded in the artist’s characteristic veil of mystery developed over the course of three years, following nearly a decade of individual experimentation.

Each track on the record is originally based on a solo idea, moulded & fine-tuned in conversation with contributing musicians Sofiane Brahmi  & Javier Vivancos, then finalized by the producer. The collaborative process brought together niches that wouldn’t typically share territory or sound, allowing music to emerge that transcends each of their boundaries.

Tapping into all irreverent niches close to his heart – noise, punk, industrial, electronic, and even pop – Parrish Smith refuses to foreground one influence over another, instead layering and warping his personal interpretations of each.

Speaking on the new release, Parrish Smith states: “You could call it a concept album because the sounds are so far apart. But perhaps that’s not a concept, perhaps that’s just me…”

The album is set for a 16th May release.
