Non-conforming UK rapper Blackhaine aka Tom Heyes shares new single with music video Prayer featuring British singer, composer and songwriter Blood Orange and rising Manchester rapper and producer Iceboy Violet, set to Rainy Miller’s hugely distinctive ambient drill production.
Recounting a challenge to his faith in testing times, Prayer’s cinematic arrangement of thizzing rap and iridescent electronica with lushly harmonized chorus sees Blackhaine find a raw strength in vulnerability, effectively defusing drill aggression with a lush sentimentality and hype R&B soul while skewing its road-level perspectives on violence.
It comes as the second single of Heyes’ new EP Armour II, produced by Rainy Miller and also featuring fellow NW talent Moseley and KinseyLloyd. A follow-up to their breakthrough 2020 debut and 2021 EP And Salford Falls Apart on The White Hotel’s label Head II. Blackhaine also featured on Space Afrika’s highly acclaimed album Honest Labour and is known for his choreography work with Kanye West’s Donda 1 and 2, Mykki Blanco x GucciGig and Flohio.
