London-based Alewya returns with her latest offering “Let Go” released on Because London Records.
“Let Go” marks a new phase for Alewya, one that through a time of mental agony and confusion revealed a newfound personal freedom and confidence. The single comes alongside a a captivating set of visuals portraying her as the sole performer and features flashes of Alewya’s own hieroglyphic-style illustrations.
Speaking on the single, she states: “I’m freeing myself up, getting more confident in how lost I feel. With ‘Panther In Mode’, I was coming from a more poised space. The next phase is more wild. I won’t hold back anymore.“
As an artist who thrives in the studio and on stage, her project with Mercury prize winner, Moses Boyd captured this effortless partnership on “The Code”. Other recent highlights include touring with Little Simz and a COLORS edition of the track “Ethiopia”. Alewya has already been tipped as a DAZED 100, and was dubbed as “this decade’s triple threat” by LOVE magazine.
