Call Super shares highly-anticipated EP ‘Swallow Me’ via Can You Feel The Sun

DJ and producer, Call Super aka Jospeh Richmond-Seaton shares their “Swallow Me” EP — out digitally via Can You Feel The Sun with the vinyl edition available on 28th October.

Drawn to the startling and unique range of opera singer Kamala Sankaram’s vocals they recently began to splice recordings of her performances during DJ sets. Seeing and hearing her voice take on a new life and connecting with new audiences and spaces, they were inspired to sample Sankaram on track “Swallow Me”.

Taking elements from Sankaram’s performance at the final Resonant Bodies festival in New York in 2019, we hear her piercing falsetto replicate the Ancient Greek ololyga, a ritual shriek of women, a sound so alarming to men that it could not be uttered within their earshot. Swallow Me perfectly balances the ancient primal sounds with the futuristic experimental electronics Call Super is known for.

On “I Love Like Your Men”, the scintillating arps cascade with both tenderness and urgency. Continuing to be inspired by personal events, art and writing this track takes shape as a tribute to the undated diaries of Samuel R Delaney which they explain are “slices of time that cut themselves holes into other times and other places”.

Richmond-Seaton said on the EP: “When we are young we show our love by emulating those we love. Tributes, respect, adoration, getting lost in things. Trying to become a person we wish to be. Hold that process and don’t be afraid to let it always hold you too.”
