South Londoner Kamaal Williams announces third studio album ‘Stings’

South London keyboardist and producer Kamaal Williams aka Henry Wu returns with third solo album ‘Stings’ via his label Black Focus out September 27th, announcing with title track.

The Peckham born, British-Taiwanese artist’s forthcoming project is a brand new multidisciplinary tour de force, traversing the jazz, classical, electronic, art, and design worlds. The LP follows solo full-lengths Wu Hen (2020), The Return (2018) and his debut Black Focus (2016) in collaboration with Yussef Dayes as Yussef Kamaal. He also mixed !K7’s legendary DJ KiCKS mix & compilation in 2019. In addition to live instrumentation, Kamaal Williams also releases electronic music under his given name Henry Wu.

Conceptualised during the pandemic on an upright piano and recorded in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago over the first months of 2022, the album features L.A. multi-instrumentalist maestro, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson (Flying Lotus, Bonobo) contributing string arrangements, Grammy-nominated bass god, Sharay Reed, violinist Stephanie Yu (Beyonce, Mariah Carey), Stones Throw’s DJ Harrison, the Katalyst Collective’s Greg Paul, and Atlanta saxophonist, Quinn Mason. 

Kamaal has also shared upcoming tour dates including the official premiere of “Stings” album show at Berlin’s Berghain on October 4th for a rare occasion of his spiritual jazz at the iconic venue.
