Acne Studios have published a limited edition book in ode of old friend Magnus Carlson, the cultural curator behind the brand’s showrooms, as well as library and canteen in their emblematic Stockholm HQ.
Imagined by creative director Jonny Johansson, the book offers a look at his long-time friend’s fashion archive who is an inspiration for many. Magnus Carlson’s research and creative choices have played an important role in the evolution of Johansson’s vision and therefore the evolution of Acne Studios as a brand.
The book provides a comprehensive snapshot of Carlsson’s relationship with Johansson and the brand by showcasing over 200 of his outfits as visual collages of design; including a selection of contemporary and archival pieces from Acne Studios. Raw and informal photographs of the looks were captured over an extended period of time by his friends and colleagues. The images are also accompanied by detailed outfit credits that reveal a unique mix of iconic names from the annals of fashion history.
Exploring the core objective of the book, Johansson states: “I wish for this book to give more people a glimpse of the flair that Magnus so effortlessly radiates in the lives of those who personally know him. This is not a volume meant to sit on one’s bookshelf; its purpose is to inspire and encourage others to push the boundaries of self-expression beyond trends, time and gender.”
