A Kind Of Guise Launches Seasonal Non-Profit Souvenir Shop

Fast rising contemporary German label A Kind Of Guise is launching its bi-annual Souvenir Shop.

Paying homage to local cultures while celebrating its craftsmanship and heritage, twice a year AKOG take a deep dive into the culture of a particular country, drawing inspiration for their new collections — something they’ve been doing since their inception in 2009.

AKOG’s new AW23 season is inspired by Iceland, and sees them collaborating with the Knitting Association of Iceland to launch a special edition knitwear collection made up of 33 locally hand-knitted pullovers and accessories. The Association consists of local members of all ages who create each item in their home in Iceland.

Designed exclusively for this Souvenir Shop, each item only exists once making this launch highly limited. Not only is each piece knitted locally in Iceland, but is traditionally made from locally sourced wool of the Icelandic sheep called Lopi. This wool is a natural, biodegradable product from family owned farms with breathable and temperature-regulating properties.

All profits will support Píeta, an Icelandic non-profit organisation offering counselling services to those dealing with suicidal thoughts, self-harm, and supporting families who have lost someone through suicide.
