Today Barry Can’t Swim has shared “Kimbara”, his first new music since his debut album When Will We Land?.

In trademark Barry Can’t Swim fashion, “Kimbara” is an undeniably catchy, club ready single — a guaranteed summer anthem drenched in lively horns, infectious vocal samples and energy. Barry samples multi-GRAMMY-award-winning Cuban artist Celia Cruz — who collaborated with the likes of Aretha Franklin and acted alongside Antonio Banderas — on her 1974 iconic salsa recording “Quimbara”. Although having no direct translation, “Quimbara” is believed to mean similar to ‘having a good time’ and ‘enjoying yourself’.

Already a firm fan-favourite in Barry’s lauded DJ sets “Kimbara” is the Edinburgh-born musician’s first new music of 2024 and hints at further releases coming later in the year. Alongside huge touring plans with stops at some of the worlds biggest festivals including Primavera, Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Barry will soon be announcing UK headline shows.
