A.P.C. has debuted its inaugural line of sunglasses; four unisex pairs inspired by the iconic A.P.C. silhouette.
Each frame, made in Japan, is named after a member of the legendary group The Velvet Underground. Lou (in honour of Lou Reed), Moe (for Moe Tucker, the group’s drummer, who played standing up), Nico (a tribute to the famous singer and muse) and Sterling (for the bassist Sterling Morrison).
These ten new classics are equipped with category 3 lenses, in the same colour as the frames, that can easily be replaced with corrective lenses by an optician. They also offer high glare protection and UV protection. Both the lenses and temples are discreetly marked with the A.P.C. logo and each pair comes with a faux leather case embossed with silvertone lettering and a microfibre cloth.
Jean Touitou, founder of A.P.C., stated: “With sunglasses, there’s always a possible hint of deception, but these frames add a dash of style and mystery without the arrogance. From the most utilitarian to the edgiest, there’s something for everyone.”
The sunglasses will be available in A.P.C. stores (with a display inspired by the A.P.C. store in Silver Lake, Los Angeles), on the A.P.C. website and at select retailers.
