Maison Margiela sub-label MM6 presented its statement-making SS25 collection during Milan Fashion Week under dim industrial lighting and a hazy smog. This season creative director Heikki Salonen displayed an effortless aesthetic with deconstructed silhouettes and a palette awash in neutral colours dominated by a hue of titanium white.
Blurring the lines between menswear and womenswear, a number of silhouettes were reminiscent of the early 00s but with a fresh, modern twist such as tank tops, hoodies, tuxedo vests and oversized sport shades. Amongst cowboy boots and heels appeared the legendary Dr. Martens 1460 boots, reimagined with white paint treatments making for a bold, worn aesthetic. Elsewhere there was a nod to activism with the reproduction of the icon AIDS message print, a poignant reminder of the big issues in the wider world. Elsewhere accessories included big buckled belts and commanding clutches with bold accents.
