Y/Project Is Officially Closing

The infamous Paris fashion label, renowned for its twisted denim and ruched silhouettes, has announced it will shut down after fourteen years.

The brand was founded in 2010 by Yohan Serfaty and Gilles Elalouf as a gender-neutral menswear line that focussed on timeless creations that would exist outside of ‘what’s in’. Following Serfaty’s passing in 2013, Glenn Martens—who had worked as Serfaty’s first assistant—stepped in as creative director of the brand. Under Marten’s leadership, the brand gained widespread critical and commercial success by winning the ANDAM Grand Prize in 2017 and becoming one of the final brands for the LVMH Prize for Young Designers in 2016.

Taking to Instagram, Y/Project stated: “It is with great gratitude and sadness that the Y/Project team announces we will be officially closing the brand after fourteen incredible years. We could not have achieved such success without the unwavering support of our Y/P partners, collaborators, and fans and we cannot extend enough thanks to you all for your unwavering dedication throughout the years.”

In a nod to its influence, Y/Project will donate key archive pieces to museums, to help preserve its creative legacy for future generations.
