Runway: KidSuper FW24

Colm Dillane, the visionary behind KidSuper, has once again pushed the boundaries of fashion with his latest creation, “From a Place I Have Never Been”. In collaboration with renowned artist Daniel Wurtzel, Dillane presented a captivating fusion of fashion and performance art at Halle Charlie Parker in La Villette, Paris on Saturday evening.

Wurtzel, known for his dynamic air sculptures, brought his ethereal artistry into the show, transforming the runway into a surreal, immersive space. Together with Dillane’s boundary-pushing designs, the duo blurred the lines between fashion and performance, creating a narrative of discovery and transformation. “Fashion and art are about creating worlds where people can dream,” Dillane explained, emphasising his ethos of risk-taking and exploration.

Dillane’s collection, inspired by his own fearless pursuit of the unknown, delved into themes of self-discovery, vulnerability, and reinvention. As the runway came alive with both clothing and kinetic art, Wurtzel’s sculptures interacted with Dillane’s garments, creating a spectacle that invited the audience to rethink the intersections of fashion and performance.

This season’s show also featured exciting collaborations, including a groundbreaking partnership with BAPE® under its BAPE® COLLECTIVE banner. The debut BAPE® by KidSuper collection reimagined the streetwear brand’s iconic patterns through Dillane’s unique lens, marking BAPE®’s first-ever appearance at Paris Fashion Week. Additionally, a capsule with WILDSIDE Yohji Yamamoto blended Dillane’s bold creativity with the artistry of the Japanese label, offering pieces that balance playful irreverence with refined tailoring.

KidSuper’s collaborative spirit extended beyond the runway, with pieces like a metamorphic coat designed with HAMCUS, a precision-tailored creation with Kody Phillips, and a hand-crocheted jacket crafted by Brazilian artisans with PIET. Each collaboration showcased Dillane’s commitment to elevating diverse craftsmanship and storytelling.

The show concluded with a mesmerising performance by Ekaterina Shelehova, whose vocals underscored the themes of vulnerability and transformation. Dillane’s collection, brimming with eclectic prints and vibrant colours, also embraced more subtle tones, reflecting the introspective nature of this season’s theme.
