British skateboarding brand Palace has linked up with global shoe brand Dr. Martens for the first time, reimagining the classic 1461 silhouette.
Launching this Friday 11th April, the new collaborative capsule is a nod to the 1988 trend of attaching Grolsch swing-top bottle caps to shoes, mirrored via a Palace-branded gold bottle cap lace charm. This trend was famously started by Matt Goss, lead singer of Bros, which fans then copied.
The co-branded 1461 shoe is crafted from vintage smooth leather and arrives in three alternative colourways: black, cherry red, and woodland camo. The design is finished with Dr. Martens’ signature yellow welt stitch and a lugged outsole, while the heel loop features Palace branding in place of the traditional AirWair text.
The release will be accompanied by a short film featuring punk poet John Cooper Clarke, Palace skaters Charlie Birch and Lucien Clarke, actor Serena Motola, and a dog.
The collaboration will be available from 11th April via Palace and Dr. Martens.
