Over the past few years, Nippa has quietly built a reputation as one of the most exciting new voices in British music—authentic, introspective and unafraid to evolve. Blending the smoothness of classic R&B with the grit and storytelling of rap, Nippa’s unique sound is both familiar and refreshingly distinct—a reflection of an artist who’s equally comfortable crooning about love as he is unpacking the complexities of self-worth, street life, and emotional growth. Whether selling out headline shows, fronting major fashion campaigns, or collaborating with legends behind the scenes, Nippa’s rise is driven by intention, honesty and a deep love for the craft.
The Tottenham-born artist has just released his highly-anticipated EP, Hope She Hears This, an immaculate nine-track project that marks a defining moment in his evolution as one of the UK’s most compelling R&B voices. Accompanied by the official visual for the soulful standout “Kiki’s Brown Eyes,” the release showcases Nippa’s refined artistry, emotional depth, and a new level of vulnerability.
To mark the release, we caught up with Nippa, who also shares his best songs for “Healing” from a romantic relationship…
Tell us about your new project “Hope She Hears This”. What was the inspiration behind it?
Essentially, I went through a breakup. And I felt like it was the right time to express that through the music.
How would you describe the evolution of your sound from your last project to this one? I think overall, there’s been a huge amount of personal growth, outside of music. Naturally, that influenced my process creatively – I just put more of me inside the music. Rather than just searching for songs with no substance.
What’s something you tried on this project that felt like a risk—sonically, lyrically, or visually—and why was it important to push that boundary?
Definitely getting personal. It’s really scary putting your business out there, or even your feelings. That’s a risk I hadn’t taken before. Now my mum knows my ex had me depressed.
Are there any lyrics on “Hope She Hears This” that you’re especially proud of, or that hit differently?
“Then you have the cheek to say I do too much, in the same breath I wasn’t doing enough..”
What did this project teach you about yourself that previous releases might not have?
That I am a true ARTIST.
What advice can you give someone to help aid the process of healing from relationships?
To actually feel the healing. Cry, get sad, shout if you have to. Actually allow yourself to feel it.
What’s next for Nippa?
More discovering myself, the person and musician I want to be.
