Willy Chavarria has unveiled his latest footwear collaboration with adidas Originals—the Chavarria Oaxaca Slip On, introduced during a special event at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico.
The new silhouette draws inspiration from the traditional Mexican huarache, blending heritage design with modern streetwear. The result is a hybrid sneaker—sandal featuring an open-toe slip-on design, woven leather upper and exaggerated grip sole.
The launch event included a panel discussion on cultural legacy in design, highlighting how meaningful collaborations can emerge from deep-rooted heritage. Chavarria, who often incorporates themes of identity and social justice into his work, ties this release directly to his Mexican–American background.
Shot by Marco Ovando, the campaign stars Mexican artist Juan Berthau, further reinforcing the cultural narrative behind the shoe. While no official release date has been announced, Chavarria hinted on Instagram that the drop is coming “soon”.
