UK artist Jeshi has shared the first of a new run of singles that reflect on the realities of contemporary club culture beyond the capital.

Rather than romanticising the pre-internet rave era, the tracks focus on how those spaces have shifted and survived amid changing social and economic pressures. The series opens with “champagne”, a collaboration with longtime producer Fredwave and Sydney-born, Berlin-based artist Big Ever. The track draws on the atmosphere of commuter-town clubs and faded nightlife rituals, reworking their remnants into something current and forward-leaning and signalling a new phase in Jeshi’s evolving sound.

Speaking on the track, Jeshi explained: “”champagne” is three minutes of pure chaos me and Fredwave made before heading out one night. It feels like a grime set broadcast live from Watford Oceana — and making it was every bit as fun and outrageous as it sounds.”

Jeshi is also set to play Select Discs’ first ever label party at London’s The Carpet Shop, alongside ⌭ IceMorph ⌬ and Ineffekt this Friday, 30th January. RSVP here.
