Daniel Hex has marked the one-year anniversary of his double album moment I felt / BLUE with the release of a new video for “serious“.
The visual arrives as the Detroit-based singer, songwriter and producer continues to build momentum following the project’s release, which showcased two interconnected bodies of work and established his blend of introspective lyricism and atmospheric R&B production.
Speaking on the anniversary of the double album, Hex explained: “I’m proud that moment I felt / BLUE is out. Having my best work just being out instead of on a hard drive for years, that’s what I’m most proud of.
It’s about whatever they want it to be about. The albums leave so much room for interpretation with how it’s written but it doesn’t lack substance. It’s one of those albums people can listen to alongside their life experiences and offers them perspective.
These songs and these bodies of work all have a connecting thread of following and documenting different phases of my life that I’m trying to express. ‘A’ and ‘moment I felt / BLUE’ were like two separate time periods. [My next project] truly is the next step.”
Over the past year, Hex has expanded his profile with live performances across Detroit and beyond, as well as support slots for artists including Leon Thomas and 070 Shake. The new video underscores his continued evolution, reinforcing his position as an emerging voice within contemporary R&B.
