Canadian producer and DJ Peach has announced a new five-track mini-LP, Soak Vol. 1, set for release on Mood Hut.
Following last year’s Fortune Three EP via Peach’s own Psychic Readings imprint, Soak Vol. 1—written after a tour across Asia—reflects a shift in her process. Shaped by time spent in Tokyo and an interest in cycle-synching, changes in energy to dictate tempo, texture and mood rather than designing tracks solely for the club.
Built around field recordings captured in Vietnam and the Philippines, the release moves through hazy pads, heavy low-end and fractured percussion, with water-themed pacing and atmosphere running throughout. To accompany the EP announcement, Peach has released first single “Batangas Beat”.
The release arrives as Mood Hut approaches its 15th anniversary, with the label also set to share a special compilation later this year.
