On 19th June, Live from Margins landed at EartH in Hackney, bringing together Eurohead & Effie, Thaiboy Digital, Frost Children (DJ), MCR-T and Maxxing residents. The night marked the London stop of the wider Live from Margins live run, with Thaiboy Digital’s new album sound tested directly in a club setting.
Paradise, Thaiboy Digital’s collaborative album with swedm®, sees his sound move away from earlier cloud-rap into Eurotrance, techno and 2000s Swedish EDM influences. The production draws heavily from dutch trance and Eurodance, echoing sounds often linked to artists such as Basshunter and early Tiësto, with melodic lines and piano-led intros opening into high-energy club drops.
There is also a clear link to the recent resurgence of mainstream EDM. Members of swedm® (including Eurohead and Varg2TM) previously contributed to Skrillex’s FCK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3*, part of a wider shift where trance, bass music and internet club styles have started to converge again.
At EartH, Thaiboy Digital’s set reinforced this new direction. The evening opened with a live performance from Eurohead, and Effie—the Korean hyperpop artist representing a growing wave of talent emerging from Asia’s underground scene. Thaiboy Digital followed with material from Paradise, showcasing the Eurotrance-influenced production that has come to define this latest chapter of his sound. Frost Children followed with a chaotic, high-energy DJ set built from EDM, pop and club-ready tracks, before MCR-T closed out on the mic, moving between mixing and rapping over the tracks.
