XL Recordings’ Richard Russell has teamed up with Sports Banger founder Jonny Banger for a new collaboration celebrating XL’s influential role in the UK’s early rave scene.
The capsule reimagines artwork and iconography from XL’s catalogue across a selection of T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts, paying tribute to pioneering releases from The Prodigy, Liquid, Jonny L and SL2.
At the heart of the collection is the XL Banger Bomber Jacket, created in collaboration with Maharishi. Available in black and hot pink, the jacket includes a handcrafted matte black ACME Thunderer brass whistle concealed inside the pocket.
Completing the release is the XL BANGER 12-inch compilation, featuring classic tracks including Liquid’s “Sweet Harmony”, SL2’s “DJs Take Control”, The Prodigy’s “Out of Space” and Jonny L’s “The Ansaphone”, bringing together some of the defining sounds of Britain’s rave movement.
To celebrate, Sports Banger will be throwing a one-off rave at their HQ in Tottenham (N16 4NE) on Saturday 1st August from 3PM til late, featuring a stacked line-up of XL and Sports Banger friends & family.
