Erick the Architect has released a music video for his single “No Doubt (I’m In Love)”, out via Mass Appeal.
The video was filmed in Jamaica, marking the Flatbush Zombies founding member’s first time shooting on the island, and offers a personal portrait of the country beyond common stereotypes, focused on community and everyday culture. Erick has also published an accompanying essay and set of photographs reflecting on the trip and its impact on his relationship with the country.
Speaking on the video Erick explained: “I did not want Jamaica to become texture for my work while the people living there received nothing from the exchange.”
The soundtrack for “No Doubt (I’m In Love)” was produced by Yeti Beats and Federico Vindver, and samples Jennifer Lara’s early-1980s Studio One record “I Am in Love”.
The release follows a busy year for Erick, including a collaborative track for Apple’s Cupertino keynote event, a panel appearance and performance at GRAMMY House NYC’s “A Celebration Of Creators”, a writing camp performance with Busta Rhymes, and a World Cup performance with Nas.
