PUMA has released the A$AP Rocky x PUMA Straycat, a reworked version of the brand’s 2005 Ouninpohja Explorador II from the PUMA archive.
The design was selected by A$AP Rocky during a visit to the PUMA archive as part of his role as PUMA’s Creative Director. It features a Vibram sole, tire-inspired traction, hand-distressed materials and a double lacing configuration, marking Vibram’s first co-branded outsole. The shoe was worn on stage during Rocky’s recent US tour.
Speaking on the release, A$AP Rocky explained: “I wanted to rename the shoe Straycat. The name captures the spirit of the outlier, built for rugged terrain racing, now living on the streets. This 2005 icon returns with style and we’ve reengineered it for the future.”
