Klein has shared a video for “c thru me”, taken from her new album my own fairytale, out now via Parkwuud Entertainment and distributed by Roc Nation Distribution.
Co-directed with Mizu and written by Klein, the video is framed as a fictional scripted reality show, XXL New York City, with Klein cast as both showrunner and newest cast member. It features real New York strippers playing versions of themselves, following Klein as she collects the money while the girls dance, only to find herself bullied, robbed and crying in the men’s toilets. The result is a tragicomic portrait of an outsider, playing with the absurdity and cruelty of reality television.
Written, produced and performed by Klein, the album is her take on a dark, Disney-esque soundtrack, drawing on ambient, noise, grime and R&B. Its themes centre on a double life, as her family remains unaware of her musical and artistic career.
