Joy Orbison returns to once again side step expectations.

A warm casualness equally suited for home listening as on the dancefloor, “red velve7” is music for DJs, soundsystems and dancers.

While nodding to O’Grady’s love of drum & bass and its metallic, bass-heavy textures, “red velve7” is yet another characteristically future-facing production from one of the most influential electronic artists of his generation.

Speaking on the track, Joy Orbison states: “Still Slipping came from a really distinct place in my head and felt like a bit of an itch i needed to scratch. going back into the studio after that was exciting as i was hungry to explore some new ideas. i’m sitting on quite a lot of new music but i really wanted to get this one in particular out before the end of the year. ‘red velve7’ is basically me on my decks staring at my bedroom wall when i was a kid, wishing i was doing my big intro on the valve sound-system (instead of clanging it up on my belt driven numarks). i feel like i’m just getting started, but more on that in the next few months.”

In August of this year, Joy Orbison released his long-awaited debut longform project still slipping vol.1, the latest creative milestone from an artist who’s been shaping and redefining dance music since his teens.
