Cecilie Bahnsen x The North Face: An Ode To Gorpcore

Copenhagen label Cecilie Bahnsen took to its Paris Fashion Week show to preview a collaboration with the iconic outdoor brand, The North Face.

The new collaboration, which isn’t set to launch until Spring/Summer 2025, is mainly inspired by mountainous landscapes and its colour schemes of whites, greens and blacks, as well as The North Face’s ethos ‘never stop exploring’, leading to the waterproof and practical nature of the clothes. Taking to the runway last week in an industrial setting, models walked in hyper-feminine renditions of mountain dresses, mountain jackets and shorts, as well as a number of accessories including the Base Camp Clutch, the Base Camp Duffel and the Glenclyffe Boot. It’s all about the small details in this collaboration; scalloped edges and 3D floral appliqués adorning waterproof jackets and knee-length shorts, whilst drawstrings come with flower-shaped pullers.

In a statement, Bahnsen explained: “This collection is my tribute to Ingrid Harshbarger, the late designer at The North Face, whose meticulous craftsmanship I admire endlessly. Diving into her design inheritance was deeply inspiring, and it became impossible for that influence not to shape the entire collection. It pushed me to approach craftsmanship, functionality, and durability in a completely new way — bringing the ideas of everyday couture and a deeper exploration of details and wearability to the forefront.”

As mentioned previously, fans of the collaboration will have to wait until Spring 2025 to get their hands on pieces, and will only be available on the Cecilie Bahnsen website and selected The North Face locations.
