Runway: Labrum FW25

On Saturday 22nd February, contemporary menswear label Labrum, headed by Foday Dumbuya, took over Abbey Road Studio’s in West London to present its Fall/Winter 2025 collection titled “Designed by Immigrants: Sound of Us”, which paid homage to the UK music industry.

The likes of Akala and Ghetts took to the runway embodying Dumbuya’s latest collection with their unique flair, as well as both performing live for a close-knit audience. The collection featured double-breasted blazers paired with relaxed, oversized trousers, heavy coats adorned with detailed utility pockets, and understated embroidery on everything from button-up shirts to pleated pants. A key feature of the collection was the use of cowrie shell motifs, a signature element of Labrum’s design style. These motifs continue the brand’s tradition of blending vintage inspirations with innovative, contemporary twists.

Speaking to Vogue, Foday Dumbuya stated: “I was feeling quite nostalgic this season, so I wanted to reflect on the era that made me fall in love with music in the UK. It was a time when London started to embrace this new sound that spoke to who we are and stopped looking to the States. And it’s important to look at who was pioneering that movement. They’re the products of migration—their parents came from somewhere else.”
