One of the UK’s most exciting and naturally intriguing emerging DJ-producer’s, Baobei, has returned to the sound sphere with a brand new EP.
Consisting of 5 intricately interwoven tracks—three of which have already surfaced, “Sync / Cheap Talk” and “Shy”—886 sees Baobei at her very best, delivering a slew of versatile, hard-hitting soundtracks layered with her innate lyricism.
From the bassline-grooves of “My Phone”, which also sees Baobei switching between Mandarin and English, to the brooding, dubstep-tinged textures of “Shy”, the EP reflects Baobei’s fearless experimentation and dynamic artistry. With each track offering a distinct mood and energy, the project certainly marks a defining moment in the young artist’s fast-evolving sound.
Speaking on the project, Baobei explained: “886 is like saying ‘bye-bye’ on the phone in Mandarin – bā bā liù (886 / 拜拜六). It felt like the cute name to define a project about communication and miscommunication, calls, love and everything in between.”
