Mechatok returns with “200,” a fresh collaboration featuring Tokyo rap icon Tohji, released today ahead of his highly anticipated debut album Wide Awake.
The new track, accompanied by a visually striking video directed by dopesolitary of L-DOPA studios and shot by eternalusa and Guz Reichwald, marks Mechatok and Tohji’s first reunion since their 2022 cult favourite “Ultra Rare.” Building on previous singles such as “Addiction” and “Virus Freestyle,” “200” continues to showcase Mechatok’s innovative approach to blending pop and rap, pushing modern genre boundaries.
Speaking on the new release, Mechatok explained: “I made 200 on a shitty winter day Berlin chopping up a vocal Tohji sent me. I was missing the times me and him would roam the streets of Shibuya at and speed around Tokyo in his blue car at night.”
Wide Awake, arriving 8th August via Young Recordings, is a deeply personal and forward-thinking album exploring themes of identity and authenticity in the digital age. The project features an international lineup including Bladee, Ecco2k, Isabella Lovestory, f5ve and Tohji. Pre-orders are available now for digital formats and physical editions, with vinyl and CD hitting stores on 5th September.
