North West London singer, songwriter, DJ and producer Qendresa has returned with her first release of the year, double A-side single “Rain In July / Be The One”.
“Rain In July” pairs shimmering production with intimate lyricism, as Qendresa wrestles with desire and uncertainty. On the flip, the more percussive “Be The One” leans into pitched-up vocals and late-night urgency, built around the refrain, “Can you take me back? / I just want to rewind.”
Speaking on the single, Qendresa explained: “I wrote these songs about a love that was slowly slipping away. Intergalactic heartbreak songs with otherworldly synths and haunting memories picking apart every word they said…”
The release arrives with an animated video created with multidisciplinary artist Sofire, who previously designed artwork for Qendresa’s debut EP Midnight Request Line. Drawing on London summers, GTA, ’80s anime and female-led comics, the visual follows a heroine moving through a series of self-care vignettes, from driving to bathing and smoking.
