South East London singer-songwriter Amie Blu has released her new single “bite” via 0207 Def Jam / Polydor, ahead of her debut album when all is said and done, set for release on 26th September.
The new release blends soul, country and a loose, live-band energy, offering a self-reflective take on unspoken emotion and the urge to hold back. With lyrics such as “what’s the point in having all that love just to keep it?”, Blu delivers a quietly powerful meditation on vulnerability and self-accountability.
Her first full-length project, when all is said and done, is described as frank yet assured, capturing love, loss, depression and connection with diaristic candour and arresting vocals. The record draws on influences from Dijon to Mk.gee, and examines the relationship with the self—a theme mirrored in its surreal artwork.
Speaking on the project, Blu explained: “I struggle to find anything positive in my life and feel this constant weight mentally but also physically. I want to get better and I’m trying to get better, but despite all my efforts, I often still feel the same. This album is such an honest depiction of how I feel and how so many other people feel who struggle with depression.”
Following support slots for Faye Webster, Jacob Banks and Joy Crookes, Blu will also headline the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading & Leeds Festival on 22nd and 24th.
