ISSEY MIYAKE And Apple Introduce 3D-Knitted iPhone Pocket

ISSEY MIYAKE and Apple have unveiled the iPhone Pocket, a minimalist 3D-knitted accessory designed to carry an iPhone and other daily essentials.

Inspired by ISSEY MIYAKE’s “a piece of cloth” philosophy, the design reinterprets the brand’s iconic pleating techniques into a flexible, sculptural form that adapts to its contents. Crafted in Japan, the iPhone Pocket features a ribbed, open-knit structure that stretches to fit any iPhone while subtly revealing what’s inside. The piece can be held by hand, attached to a bag, or worn on the body, embodying MIYAKE’s approach to wearable design and Apple’s focus on simplicity and functionality.

Available in two styles, a short-strap version in eight colours (lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon and black) and a long-strap version in three hues, the iPhone Pocket encourages playful colour pairing with iPhone models and accessories.

Speaking on the venture, Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director of MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO, explained: “The design of iPhone Pocket speaks to the bond between iPhone and its user, while keeping in mind that an Apple product is designed to be universal in aesthetic and versatile in use. iPhone Pocket explores the concept of ‘the joy of wearing iPhone in your own way.’ The simplicity of its design echoes what we practice at ISSEY MIYAKE — the idea of leaving things less defined to allow for possibilities and personal interpretation.”
