Sankeys is officially returning to Manchester after nearly a decade away, marking its first permanent venue in the city since the iconic Ancoats club shut in 2017.
The new space, a 500-capacity, city-centre venue, aims to recapture the stripped-back, underground character that defined the brand, complete with a revival of its signature LED matrix lighting system. Once voted the Best Club in the World, Sankeys remains one of the most influential names in global nightlife, with deep roots in Manchester’s electronic music history. Its reopening weekend is set for 30th–31st January, signalling a full-scale homecoming for the institution.
From 7th February onwards, the venue will run weekly Sankeys Saturdays, including a monthly residency from the storied night Tribal Sessions. Staying true to its legacy as a launchpad for new talent, with historic early sets from the likes of ANOTR, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers, the revamped club will spotlight cutting-edge emerging artists across house, tech-house and techno, alongside familiar names from the Sankeys lineage.
Speaking on the announcement David Vincent, Creative Director, commented: “What we’re creating is an intimate underground club with a chill out room. We will only be open one night a week on the Saturday. There will be no VIP or phones allowed on the dancefloor — everyone is a VIP. People need to stop taking pictures and start dancing to the beat.”
Tickets will go on sale this Friday 28th November at 9AM via http://sankeysofficial.com/. Attendees can also sign up for exclusive pre-sale access, offering £20 tickets for the opening weekend and selected Saturdays through summer 2026.
