NW-London DJ and producer SIMMS has shared new single “Orbit”, marking the first release on newly launched Passionfruit Records.
A rising name in jungle’s current resurgence, SIMMS blends nostalgic textures with modern club pressure on the track, pairing sweeping pads with scattered breaks and heavy bass.
Speaking on the release, SIMMS shared: “Orbit is a deep dive into the depths of my aural influences. Capturing the energy of the early 2000s atmospheric jungle boom through a renewed take on the sound.”
Alongside his growing output as a producer, SIMMS has built a fast-rising profile as a DJ, with sets for Foundation FM and guest appearances on Balamii, NTS and Rinse FM. He has also delivered mixes for Tiffany Calver on BBC Radio 1Xtra, and joined SHERELLE and Nia Archives on BBC Radio 6 Music and NTS, with support from Shy FX and recent live slots including a sold-out Jazz Cafe show opening for Takuya Nakamura.
