Dance duo DJ Heartstring have released their new single “Another Year Alone”, an earnest club track crafted for the dancefloor.
The latest track interpolates “7”, a 2016 song by Welsh band Catfish and the Bottlemen, continuing the duo’s habit of building tracks around unexpected samples. Member Jonas cited a love of guitar music and indie rock acts like Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand and Two Door Cinema Club as reference points for the record.
Speaking on the release, the pair explained: “We are thrilled to finally be able to share this one with the world, have been sitting on it for a while. This song emerged from an influence of the euphoric 90s dance era, with a big vocal line that could be sung in stadiums.”
The single had already circulated as a fan-favourite ID before its official release, having been played during DJ Heartstring’s Boiler Room set at Benwal’s Glitch Festival 2025, a sunset slot at Awakenings, and a closing set at Utrecht’s Soenda Festival.
