Young have released Yung Lean’s reimagining of Robyn’s beloved 2005 track “Robotboy”, produced by Klas Åhlund.
Lean, a longtime friend of Robyn’s, said he felt a personal connection to the song’s central character, “Robotboy”, after a conversation with Robyn in Stockholm prompted him to record his own version. Both artists grew up in the city’s Södermalm neighbourhood before going on to build distinct careers in contemporary music.
Speaking on the release, Robyn explained: “I asked Jonatan if he wanted to record his version of Robotboy because I just craved hearing his interpretation of this sad song. I think it was made for you J, the lyrics turn to gold in your version, like you are singing this lullaby to a previous version of yourself 🖤”
