Jonatan Leandoer Håstad, known internationally as Yung Lean, will present his first major exhibition devoted to his visual art practice, opening 25th September at Torsgatan 22, Stockholm’s former Gasworks.

Collected Works 2016–2026 brings together paintings, sculpture, works on paper and a new short film made over the past decade, the majority previously unexhibited. Self-taught, Håstad developed the work through an instinctive, physical process, with recurring figures and motifs linking pieces made years apart. The show also premieres a new short film, executive produced by and starring Håstad, following two lovers through rural Sweden.

On the lifelong impulse behind his visual practice, Håstad explained: “Ever since I can remember I dreamed of colours. I’ve made wooden sculptures and drawings and paintings since I was a kid. Just like my songs, the work is made through stream of consciousness. I go where the hand takes me. My paintings mean nothing and also everything. Here they are.”

Rather than a conventional gallery layout, the exhibition transforms the space into a series of environments, with Håstad overseeing the show’s design and installation himself. Collected Works 2016–2026 runs 25th September to 11th October in Stockholm, where Håstad was born and continues to live, with free admission.
