Fontaines D.C. have released their highly-anticipated fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, via XL Recordings.
Produced by James Ford, the album follows 2024’s UK platinum-certified Romance and marks a move away from the band’s early guitar-led sound. It was made across London, the English countryside and Palermo, where Grian Chatten recorded vocals in a makeshift booth built from mattresses and cushions. It was preceded by singles “Marianne”, “Tongue” and “Where Is Gone?”, a collaboration with Rosalía.
To mark the release, the band have shared a video for “Japan”, directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Luna Carmoon and starring Angèle Metzger, Charlie Heaton and Sean Black. Carmoon previously directed the band’s Romance-era videos.
The BBC will air a special edition of Later… with Jools Holland dedicated to the band, filmed at Alexandra Palace Theatre and featuring first performances of new tracks. It will be available on iPlayer on 21st October and broadcast on BBC Two on 15th November, with radio interviews across 6 Music, Radio 2 and Radio 1 next week.
The band have also announced their biggest headline shows to date, including UK and European arena dates, two nights at Slane Castle on 26th and 27th June, and stadium shows at St James’ Park, Heaton Park, Glasgow Green and London Stadium in 2027. Tickets available here.
