Berlin-based DJ Ogazón has launched her self-titled label, ‘Ogazón’, with the inaugural release a four-track EP, Reasons, from South African artist Deano.
The label grew out of Ogazón’s habit of cutting dubplates of unreleased music by friends and artists whose tracks had found their way into her sets. It aims to give emerging and lesser-known artists a vinyl home, championing house and techno made “from the dancefloor to the dancefloor”, with a focus on slow burners and careful mastering and pressing.
“Reasons”, releasing 20th November, opens with a techno cut suited to the closing hours, followed by the spacious “Black Pearl”. On the flip, lead single “Radix” delivers a jackin’ piano-led groove, while “Matter To Me” closes with chord-driven house. Deano has previously released on Hayes,
Ogazón, who is Spanish-Luxembourgish, has played Panorama Bar, Berghain and Bassiani, as well as Dekmantel, Houghton and Primavera Sound.
