South London rising star Jim Legxacy has released his latest project, black british music (2025), via XL Recordings.
Described by Legxacy as a reflection of the “chaotic beauty” of Black British identity, the project avoids traditional structure in favour of a raw, unfiltered sound. The 12-track release spans a wide sonic range, incorporating elements of UK garage, jungle, emo, drill, Afropop and indie rock.
Key tracks include “Father,” which explores themes of absence and grief over a distorted soul sample, and “3x,” a stripped-back track featuring a verse from rapper Dave. Other songs, such as “’06 Wayne Rooney” and “S.O.S.,” highlight the mixtape’s unpredictable energy and genre fluidity. Legxacy presents a fragmented yet personal portrait of his own experience growing up in South London, shaped by cultural duality and musical hybridity.
