The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) has launched its first standalone bookstore in Seoul, marking a milestone in the institution’s 20-year partnership with Hyundai Card.
Set in Apgujeong’s Dosan Park, the new space showcases over 1,100 publications covering contemporary art, design and photography, alongside a number of rare and exclusive MoMA editions. Unlike MoMA’s past retail ventures, this Seoul location is focused solely on books, while also presenting a carefully chosen range of design pieces, lifestyle items, and fan-favourite merchandise like varsity sweaters and New Era caps. The launch highlights both Seoul’s growing role as a global centre for culture and MoMA’s dedication to expanding its reach beyond New York.
The partnership with Hyundai Card, established in 2006, has expanded into a wide-reaching cultural exchange, including the “Hyundai Card MoMA Digital Wall,” which streams digital works from New York to Seoul in real time.
