Quentin Tarantino’s original full cut of Kill Bill, long known as “The Whole Bloody Affair”, will finally receive a wide U.S. cinema release on 5th December, Lionsgate has confirmed.
Originally conceived as a single film before being split into Vol. 1 (2003) and Vol. 2 (2004), the version combines both parts and includes a previously unseen seven-and-a-half-minute animated sequence. Screenings will be presented in both 35mm and 70mm formats. “I wrote and directed it as one movie — and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie,” Tarantino said. “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theatre in glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”
Starring Uma Thurman as The Bride alongside Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Gordon Liu, Michael Parks, and David Carradine, the film follows The Bride’s revenge against the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 grossed $180 million and $152 million worldwide, respectively. Lionsgate anticipates the new cut will roll out across all major U.S. markets, with potential for international releases to follow.
