Slawn Turns Saatchi Yates Into A Functioning Studio For His Latest Exhibition

London-based artist Slawn has unveiled a new exhibition at Saatchi Yates that transforms the gallery into a live working studio.

Running from 22nd January to 22nd February, Slawn’s Studio invites visitors inside his creative process, with painting, music-making and collaboration unfolding in real time. Throughout the month, the space functions as an active studio rather than a static exhibition, with works created, altered and installed on site as ideas move fluidly across disciplines. Friends and collaborators regularly pass through, shaping both the atmosphere and the output, while the presentation evolves alongside Slawn’s time in the gallery.

Born in Lagos in 2000 and now based in London, Slawn is renowned for bold, instinctive paintings that fuse his Nigerian heritage with contemporary youth culture. Working deliberately outside traditional art-world conventions, his practice is defined by primary-coloured portraits, iconic frowning caricatures and satirical observations of modern society.
