American artist Ryan Trecartin has unveiled BUCKLE YUP: LIP SINK MUZAK, the second instalment in his episodic short-form series created with Kiko Kostadinov for ASICS.
Framed as experimental “commercials,” the project will roll out across 2026, with each chapter launching alongside a new tabi runner release. Act 2 premieres in Tokyo on 11th April, timed with the debut of the Kiko Kostadinov x ASICS LYASA FF.
Shot across Japan with 15 local performers, LIP SINK MUZAK continues Trecartin and Kostadinov’s ongoing collaboration, blending improvisation, choreography and abstraction. The film is structured around evolving scripts and lyrics, supported by a score composed by Trecartin that twists pop and teen-musical tropes into something deliberately fractured, using machine learning-generated vocals to build its surreal narrative.
