Joe James drops new single “Papercuts” ahead of album release

Joe James has shared new single “Papercuts”, the latest preview of his forthcoming debut album The Ends, Never Ends, arriving 10th July via Neighbourhood.

Described by the Southend rapper as his favourite track on the record, “Papercuts” reflects on the emotional cost of chasing wealth, pairing introspective lyricism with a stark black-and-white video directed by UNCANNY. The visual mirrors the song’s themes, juxtaposing urban life with the pressures of material ambition.

The single follows “Back Together”, which explored James’ childhood and experiences of neurodivergence. Both tracks offer an insight into The Ends, Never Ends, a deeply personal debut shaped by themes of trauma, identity, class and resilience.

Produced by collaborators including Remy Jones, Micha Cooper, Felix Joseph, AOD and Callum Waddington, the album draws on influences spanning jazz, blues, UK rap and alternative soul, and features artists such as Lancey Foux, Dave, Loyle Carner, Astrønne, Hak Baker, KB from Sounds Mint and Raws.
