Nigerian-British rapper DEELA has returned with scintillating new double single “Dey Play!” and “Gbona”.
Continuing her breakout run following support slots for Amaarae in London and Paris, and her recent collaboration with Little Simz on the surprise EP SUGAR GIRL, “Dey Play!” finds DEELA delivering unapologetic bars, with its title referencing the act of brushing off unwanted attention. On the flip, “Gbona”, Yoruba for “hot” or “heat”, leans into themes of ambition and self-belief, blending English, Yoruba and pidgin over her signature rap sound.
Over the last couple of years DEELA has built a reputation for fusing hip-hop, trap and Afrobeats, earning collaborations with Flo Milli, Teni, Coco & Clair Clair and Vanco. The new releases arrive as DEELA continues to expand her profile with recent live performances across Europe, further cementing her position as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging rap voices.
