Qendresa has released a new AA-side single, “Besitos / Gave Myself 2 U”, and announced a six-date North American tour in November.
“Besitos” leans into reggaeton and themes of sexuality and liberation, accompanied by a video directed by Yussef Haridy. For the “Besitos” video, Qendresa reunited with multidisciplinary artist Sofire, who also created the artwork for her debut EP, Midnight Request Line. Drawing on hot summer evenings, London living, GTA, 80s anime and comics such as Tank Girl, the video plays out through a series of animated vignettes following a female protagonist as she takes ownership of her own story, shown through scenes of self-care including smoking, bathing and driving.
Speaking on the release, Qendresa explained: “One soundtrack for chasing mezcal infused sunsets, and another for the heart aching drive home when the parties over”.
The release follows Qendresa’s appearance on Drake’s album HABIBTI, contributing to “Slap The City”, as well as additional vocals on “Gen 5”, “Fortworth” featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR and “Stuck” (MAID OF HONOUR), and arrives ahead of a 6-date North America Tour in November hitting clubs and venues across cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
