Brian Eno is relaunching Opal Records, with reissues of two previously unavailable albums, Another Day on Earth and Drawn From Life, his collaboration with J. Peter Schwalm, both out 16th October.
To mark the announcement, two previously unreleased live performance videos have been released today, “Caught Between” from “Another Day on Earth”, filmed at Coliseu do Porto in June 2001, and “Persis” from “Drawn From Life”, filmed at Fuji Rock Festival the following month. Both feature Eno, Schwalm, Nell Catchpole, Leo Abrahams, Christoph Buhse and Heiko Himmighoffen.
Opal Records was founded by Eno in 1988, releasing albums by artists including Roger Eno, Harold Budd, Laraaji, Daniel Lanois, Jon Hassell and John Cale, before going on hiatus in 1991 when its catalogue moved to All Saints Records. “Another Day on Earth” marked Eno’s first song-based album since 1992’s “Nervenet”, while “Drawn From Life” will carry joint billing with Schwalm for the first time. Both albums had remained out of print outside Japan for close to two decades.
One percent of proceeds from Opal record sales will be donated to Earth Percent.
