London producer Cold has today released “Miles”, their debut single as a vocalist, featuring Tirzah and Jawnino.
Produced by Cold and Rada producer Endevour, the track brings together two artists Cold has previously worked with, having produced for Jawnino and supported Tirzah live. Developed from ideas originally intended for other artists’ tracks, “Miles” explores themes of self-doubt and reflection.
The accompanying video, directed by Finnbar Porteous with creative direction by Hamish Wirgman, features a fox inside a London flat surrounded by party debris, alongside a still-life arrangement of litter collected from the city’s streets.
Speaking on the track, Cold explained: “Being instrumental in Jawnino’s ‘It’s Cold Out’ and ‘Westfield’ and James Massiah’s ‘Peroxide’, I decided to use the ideas I had for those tracks as the basis for a song for myself. Lyrically, I like the idea of being some sort of voice of reason, for myself and maybe others, finding middle ground while reflecting on my relationships with the people and things around me. My songs are usually centred around optimism and exploring multiple perspectives, whilst keeping my own values and identity intact.”
